Who is Benjamin Bloom?

Higher order thinking:
Create some activities that can allow children to develop their higher order thinking skills. Explain how you intend to use help children develop their higher order thinking in your classroom.

  1. Benjamin Bloom is a psychologist known for creating Bloom's taxonomy, a list of six cognitive processes that are used in learning.

    One activity that uses the higher order thinking skill of evaluating is listening to a recording of a piece of music. Students could listen to a recording of their performance and evaluate how they performed on various musical concepts of tempo, pitch, dynamics, and phrasing. They could then think of ways they could improve for their next performance. Another activity is having students compose their own short songs. Not only is this an educational standard for music, but it's an excellent was to incorporate the create skill in Bloom's taxonomy.
